We have recently received information from the Friends of Nature House (more info below) regarding the re-opening of the former SYHA Hostel at Kirk Yetholm:
We have secured a purchase for the former SYHA hostel at Kirk Yetholm and are now due to open 10th August 2012 (fingers crossed!) as Kirk Yetholm Friends of Nature House, run much as before for walkers, cyclists, individuals, families and small groups. We will also be an SYHA Affiliate hostel in the near future!
The Friends of Nature is the UK arm of International Friends of Nature (IFN), one of Europe’s leading environmental organisations with some 600,000 members. They have over 800 eco-friendly places to stay in Europe, particularly suited to the walker, cyclist and country lover. It is a member of the Green 10, a platform of ten leading environmental non-governmental organisations. The common aim is the pursuit of an improvement of the environmental situation both in the EU member states and in the neighbouring states. The Green 10 work together with the EU law-making institutions – the European Commission, the European
Parliament and the Council of Ministers.
